Details: We are excited to host the ClearMark 2023 Awards today at 1:30 EST. This is what you need to know:
The event’s platform
The Awards event is hosted in the Butter.us platform. Join the event in 5 simple steps:
1. Click on the link https://join.butter.us/virtual-conference/clearmark-awards.
2. Make sure you give Butter permission to access your camera and microphone by clicking “request permissions”.
3. In the waiting room, confirm your name and check that your microphone and camera are working.
4. When you are ready, click “send join request”. You will be admitted to the event shortly thereafter.
5. During the event: when prompted, use the options on the lefthand side of your screen to interact with the activities, and use the chat to engage in conversation with our Plain Language community.

Using Chat We are a familiar community so before we get started feel free to unmute and say hello to the group or use the chat. Access the chat from the left-hand panel or by clicking 'C' on your keyboard.
Cameras on During the awards ceremony we would like you to keep your cameras on. Use keyboard shortcut 'V' to toggle video on/off.
Muting and Hiding Myself On your keyboard, use ‘M’ to mute and unmute and ‘H’ to hide yourself from the view or to be visible after hiding.
Technical difficulties If you have technical issues during the event, please let us know in the chat. If you have any issues connecting to the event, please email: info@centerforplainlanguage.org.
Using a Firefox browser? You may see a message on your screen that the platform is not supported by Firefox. However, you should be able to join the event anyway. Also, you can rejoin using the same link in case you lose the connection.
How to follow the award presentationWhen we take you to the finalists, you may see a pop up window on your screen to join the presentation. If you get prompted to login, you can close that popup, and join the presentation without logging in. If the Miro presentation freezes, you can also refresh it by clicking the Miro options in the top middle of the screen (under the browser menu bar), and click “refresh.”
Will the event be recorded? Yes, we will record the event, however the recording will not include messages written in the chat column.
